Egyptian actress Sawsan Badr denied circulating rumors that she threatened to take off her clothes piece by piece if demonstrators in Tahrir Square did not leave and break up their strike. Sawsan considered the rumors as attempts to create problems between her and demonstrators, who were holding a strike in Egypt’s famous Tahrir Square demanding that all the corrupt politicians of the former government regime be put to trial and the families of Martyrs from the January 25 Revolution be given their rights.

Sawsan stressed that she strongly supports the cause of the demonstrators but does not support holding a strike that halts daily life and businesses. The actress stated that a chance should be given to the military council, which is currently running the country, to make the necessary improvements after the downfall of ousted President Husni Mubarak.

According to the internet website, MBC.net, Sawsan stressed that such rumors are foolish attempts to create problems for her and make her look bad in the eyes of people. She added that she would never believe that the great men behind the revolution are the ones creating such demeaning lies as taking off her clothes. Sawsan said she is a grandmother and has a family and she is known to be a very respectful woman who would never act in such a degrading manner.
