A large number of Egyptian stars had refrained from taking part in the people’s revolution in Egypt against the now former Egyptian President Husni Mubarak and had either remained silent not making any comment or had announced their support to Husni Mubarak. Protesters in Egypt’s Tahrir Square will for a long time remember those that were against their beliefs and described them as traitors, murderers and spies.
According to the London based Elaph, those stars that showed their full support to the protesters from the start were welcomed and respected by everyone in the streets. Despite the fact that many stars had changed their minds about the people’s revolution and decided to join protesters, they were resented by protesters and in some cases were forcefully led out of protests.
Among stars that were rejected by protesters are singer Tamer Husni and actor Ahmad Al Sakka. Both stars had released official apologies to all the people in the streets and stressed their support for all they stand for.
Egyptian singer Shireen Abd Al Wahab, who had kept silent at first, had joined protesters and was warmly welcomed after she announced that she would not sing for the Egyptian local television station, which from the beginning was against the revolution and was supportive of the former Egyptian president.
A campaign has been launched on the internet social network Facebook to boycott the works of all the stars that were against the revolution and had made hurtful comments about the protesters and their beliefs. A black list has been created that includes all the names of stars that were considered to be against the revolution.
