Egyptian artist Midhat Abu Al Izz is seeking stardom in the cinema by playing the character of ousted Egyptian President Husni Mubarak. Midhat stated that his strong resemblance to Mubarak makes him a very suitable candidate for any film about the former President.
According to the internet website MBC.net, Midhat said that former US President George Bush’s lookalike was able to find stardom and he wishes the same would happen to him. During the January 25 Revolution in Egypt that overthrew the government of Mubarak, Midhat stated that he kept hiding from the press fearing that he would be harassed by the press and officials.
Midhat noted that he encountered numerous situations where people would criticize him for looking like Mubarak. He said that at times he would be ashamed to walk in the streets but now he wants to make the resemblance to his advantage and hopefully land al few film offers to play the former President.
Midhat revealed that he has been nominated for his first acting role as Mubarak in the new film “Awraqat al Qasr”. He noted that the entire film crew had agreed that he would be most suitable for the role. Midhat stated that he hopes he is able to convince people he is Mubarak, but at the movies only.
