Lebanese singer Mariam Fares has made a final decision to stop the airing of her latest single “Shu Bahib” (How I love) on all Arab radio stations. The singer also stated that she will remove the song from her portfolio and as if she never recorded it.
Mariam’s decision came after Lebanese composer Jan Marie Riyashi accused Egyptian composer Mohammad Raheem, who composed Mariam’s song, of stealing the composition of the song “Bil Qalib Khalini” (Leave me in the heart) which he, Jan, had composed for Lebanese diva Majda Al Roumi in the past. Jan had threatened that if Mariam did not order for the song to be taken off the air, he would take legal actions against her and Mohammad.
Jan considered Mariam’s decision to stop the song a very smart and wonderful one and he expressed his deepest gratitude to her for doing so stating that the composition of the song belongs to Majida and himself.
On her part, Mariam did not want to involve herself in legal proceedings and decided to take the quick way out and settling the matter peacefully.
Mariam’s song “Shu Bahib” was written by poet Siham Al Shi’sha’ and was launched on February 14 in celebration of Valentine’s Day.
