Rima Al Rahbani, daughter of Lebanese diva Fairouz, denied circulating rumors that her mother has passed away as a result of a severe illness. The rumor has been circulating extensively on the internet social websites Facebook and Twitter.
Rima posted on her official page on Facebook, that her mother Fairouz is enjoying perfect health and she is not suffering from any ailment as many claimed. She called on the press to verify their news before publishing fabricated lies that are created by individuals who have nothing better to do with their time.
On Friday night March 9th, the rumor of Fairouz’s death swarmed the pages of Facebook and Twitter. It was posted that Faiouz has passed away at the age of 77 after a battle with a severe joint illness. It was added that complete secrecy surrounded the subject of her illness until the moment of her death.
It was added that Faiouz was secretly being treated at the American University Hospital in Beirut since the middle of February of the current year. In addition the rumors had it that the official announcement of Fairouz’s death will be made publicly on March 12. It was said that preparations are being made for a grand funeral ceremony that is expected to be attended by thousands of people from around the Arab world.
In the recent months, Fairouz had made numerous public appearances and surprised her fans by holding four concerts in a period of two weeks only in Lebanon. The singer had also promised her fans with a fifth concert yet to be announced.
