Script writer Yusri Al Jundi has denied recent circulating rumors about the nomination of Egyptian prominent actress Elham Shaheen for the role of the late Egyptian Queen Shajarit Al Durr in the new television drama that holds the same name as the queen. The drama is scheduled to be screened during the Ramadan season of 2011.
According to the London based Elaph, Al Jundi revealed that the Egyptian Media Production will produce the film and only two agreements have been reached, which are with the director and writer of the drama. Al Jundi added that it is still too early to choose the cast of the drama and the leading actress who will play the role of the queen.
On her part, Elham stated that Al Jundi had discussed the drama with her over two years ago, but no final decision was made about her being nominated for the leading role.
