Prominent Syrian actor Ayman Zaydan has stated that he considers that most television channels are bias to historical and social dramas neglecting comedy works. He added that comedy projects receive cruel and unjust criticism leading to the fallback of the amount of works being produced.

According to the London based Elaph, Zaydan made his statements during a press conference that was held in Damascus for the launching of filming the first scenes of the second part of his popular television drama series “Youmiat Mudeer Aam” (Days of a general manager). The second part will be directed by Zuhair Qanou and is written by KHaled Haydar.

Zaydan added that the number of comedy projects is extremely low in Syria in both the small screen and theater plays. Zaydan stated that comedy is a choice and each artists looks at life from his personal angle.

The actor went on to say that most of the tragic events that are present in our daily lives could be seen from a satirical point even the Israeli Arab crises could be made into a satirical comedy. Zaydan stressed that comedy is an art and can influence society and all the different events that are occurring.
