The Janh Al Haram Court in Cairo has set April 25 to release its verdict in the appeal filed by prominent Egyptian comedian actor Adel Imam, who is accused of insulting the Muslim religion in the different films he took part in. The actor’s defense lawyers demanded that Adel be innocent of all allegations against him and that he must be paid a compensation of one million Egyptian pounds.

During the first hearing for the actor, which he was absent for, his lawyer stated that he did not insult any of religion in any way and all accusations against him are invalid. The lawyer added that the actor was not aware of a lawsuit against him until a jail sentence of three months was made against him.

Adel’s lawyer stressed that all of the films Imam played in had passed through the Egyptian Censorship Committee and if any of them presented any form of insults they would have been immediately rejected.
