Thirty years after the six-day war, new revelations show that Israeli generals exerted considerable pressure to push their government to go into battle. According to military historian Ami Gluska of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, "a gap separated government officials from soldiers who were on average more than 20 years younger and who were burning to go to war".
