According to an official statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, French government gave its approval for the appointment of Missoum Sbihas as "the ambassador to represent People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria". Sbihah served as the ambassador of Algeria in Canada and Belgium, and then as advisor to President Abdelaziz Bouteflika and Special Representative of Algeria in European Commission. Sbih will succeed Mohamed Ghoualmi, who has held the post in Paris since 1997.
