In the wake of the knife attack in an East London tube station, the Internet rallied around a man who told the attacker that he “ain’t no Muslim”. The hashtag #YouAintNoMuslimBruv went viral on Twitter with people praising the very British manner in which the attack was condemned.
However, many users were less impressed by British Prime Minister David Cameron using the phrase after a speech on Monday. He was speaking at a school in Burton-on-Trent when he said "some...have dedicated speeches and media appearances and sound-bites and everything to this subject but 'you ain't no Muslim, bruv' says it all, much better than I ever could and thank you because that will be applauded all around the country.”
While he did not quite use the phrase in the context that the Twitter users had done, this did not stop him from being mocked for repeating it altogether. And although some responses were humorous, others had more serious undertones. See below via Twitter.

Listening to David Cameron saying #YouAintNoMuslimBruv is just as hilarious as I'd imagined. Waiting for him to drop some sick rhymes innit.
