Needless to say, when an Egyptian court handed down the death penalty to ousted Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi, the Egyptian government was met with harsh cricism from international rights organizations and governments alike (not to mention the deadly shooting of three judges in the Sinai hours after the sentencing). Amnesty International, for instance, called the trial a "complete disregard for human right."

Given all this, we expected a lot of Twitter responses too, but on Sunday the feed was pretty quiet, barring the usual condemnations. What we did notice were these comics. Perhaps in a display of the dire but all-too-common realities Egytians and observers are used to with the handlings of Muslim Brotherhood affiliates by Abdel Fattah el-Sisi's government. This, it seems, is what people have come to expect. The result? Some of it shows up in these gravely calm comics on social media. Here's the last two days. Via Twitter
