An unusually large pizza order may have been the final confirmation for police believing that Salah Abdelslam was hiding out in a Brussels flat. According to reports, authorities were suspicious that the Paris attacker—described as Europe’s most wanted man—was being hosted by residents of a home in Molenbeek, not far from his own former home.

Abdelslam was arrested last week during a police raid in which he suffered a leg injury after being shot. He has now been charged with terrorism offences in Belgium, however France is urging Belgian authorities to extradite him in order to face charges for his alleged key role in the November Paris attacks.

According to reports, police found his fingerprints on a glass during a raid on a safe house in the Forest district of Brussels last Tuesday. This added to their suspicion that he was still in the city, despite rumours that he had fled the country.

They soon became aware of a home where they believed residents were hiding a large group of people. Suspicions were reportedly confirmed when a woman living there made an unusually large pizza order.

A raid on the home ended in Abdelslam’s arrest.

It is thought that the fugitive played a key role in the November attacks in Paris, with some reports suggesting that he was meant to be a suicide bomber but backed out at the last minute.
