Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan met Russian president Vladimir Putin met today in St. Petersburg, their first meeting since mending ties in June after Turkey shot down a Russian jet near the Syrian border last November. It was the latest positive step in Russo-Turkish relations.
In fact, it was so positive and the meeting so cordial, that some on Twitter began to paint Erdogan and Putin as two men in a bromance of sorts-a friendship that knows no bounds. The following are some of the funniest Twitter reactions to today’s meeting.
Some of the jokes came from Russian parody accounts, including Putin parody account @DarthPutinKGB and @Sputnik_Not, which parodies the Russian news agency Sputnik.
