Egyptian singer Shireen Abdul Wahab’s recent trip to London has given rise to a number of rumors, the highlight of which is that she was secretly married and was on her honeymoon. Upon her return Shireen was shocked by the rumors, explaining that she was on a family vacation, and that she has no reason to marry in secret.
According to the London based weekly, Laha, Shireen stated that she is not obliged to inform the media whenever she wants to take a vacation and that she tries to live a normal life. The trip to London was a promise Shireen had made to her younger sister and when the time was right she took the opportunity for the two to travel together, she explained.
Shireen has filed a lawsuit against her record producer, Nasr Mahrous, demanding to break the contract between them. Shireen claims that Nasr only produces one album for her every two years, a matter that negatively affects her career and is against the stipulations of their contract, which clearly states he must produce an album for her, yearly.
Shireen explained that she must present a new music style in order to maintain her career, and Mahrous has failed to offer her any of the advantages provided to other singers by different production companies. Even if the court does not grant her permission, Shireen asserted that she will sever the contract between her and Mahrous.
The singer claims she would rather quit her career, than continue being mistreated by the production company. “She is fighting to protect her image as a singer,” she affirmed.
Shireen denies that she has received attractive offers from other production companies or that there is someone influencing her position. She stressed that if there was another company she intends to sign with, they would have paid the fees required to break her contract, ending the whole dilemma.
Shireen has completed recording five songs for her upcoming album, but has announced that the album will not be released this summer as scheduled due to the dispute with her production company. She has postponed the album’s release, along with the filming of new music videos, to an unspecified date.
