Solidifying its role as a major player in the Jordanian social arena, Visa International celebrated with the Jordanian community the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan's 60th Independence Day on Friday May 26th 2006.

In light of this national holiday, Visa organized an activity that involved the Jordanian community at large. During Visa's one day event held at Abdoun Mall, Visa set up a designated area that was decorated with the Jordanian flag, a giant white poster, and a large metal three dimensional see through stencil bearing the name "Jordan" in English.

Visa's celebration took place in the outdoor area of one of Amman's most crowded shopping centres, Abdoun Mall. On location, shoppers passing by the mall stopped at the Visa stand to place the branded boxes in the three dimensional word "Jordan” and then expressed their good wishes on a white poster board with small notes of gratitude to Jordan for all of its achievements over the last 60 years. The boxes that were eventually filled with the visitors' genuine feelings of loyalty towards their country and by the end of the day this simple activity gave birth to a symbolic yet heart-warming token of the citizens’ love for Jordan.

This creation is to stand in Abdoun Mall to serve as a tribute to this Kingdom and its people. Commenting on this activity Mr. Said Shuqom, Visa International General Manager for the Levant said, “Visa recognizes that every market is unique and has specific needs, therefore we are proactive in holding events that are tailored specifically for the Jordanian community. At Visa International we strive to play an active role in organizing activities that concern the whole Jordanian community, and in a joyous occasion such as Jordan's Independence Day we see that it is Visa’s duty is to be present and to show our ongoing support for the Jordanian government and for Jordan as a whole."
