Huawei completes world’s first multi-vendor Interoperability Test on a LTE TDD trial network

Huawei, a leader in providing next-generation telecommunications network solutions for operators around the world, today announced the completion of a 2×2 (two network system vendors and two chipset vendors) Interoperability Test (IOT) on its LTE TDD trial network. This successful IOT will enable Huawei to be the world’s first vendor to implement large-scale LTE TDD trials in some of the six major Chinese cities. 

Many leading global telecommunications equipment vendors participated in the test, which was organized by China Mobile and the research institute of the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The Ministry required each system vendor to complete indoor-outdoor IOT with two chipset vendors, and the testing on 2.3GHz and 2.6GHz including hardware, software, and multi-subscriber performance. Huawei’s successful test results were due to its ability to provide end-to-end solutions with Hisilicon and Huawei devices. 

In 2010, Huawei successfully deployed the world’s first LTE TDD network, which was demonstrated at The World Expo 2010 in Shanghai. Also last year, Huawei signed the world’s first LTE TDD commercial contract in Poland with Aero2 for the world’s first LTE TDD/LTE FDD CO-platform commercial network. During the 2011 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Huawei showcased its LTE FDD and LTE TDD convergence network applications, including three-party video conferencing, multi-VOD, mobile handover and IMS/RCS business. The stability of its converged network demonstration shows the capability of Huawei’s SingleRAN architecture, its leadership in the development of LTE FDD and LTE TDD solution convergence and the enhanced presence of LTE TDD in the global telecommunications industry.
