Greater Amman Municipality finalized the first phase of King Abdullah II Park

The Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) recently announced that twelve qualified contactors will compete for the tender of the second phase of King Abdullah II park project in Al-Mogabalain, which is likely to be awarded next month.
The Director of the Supervision and Projects Department, Engineer Mohammad Al Kharabsheh, said that the second phase includes the infrastructural works, such as rain water drainage systems, sewerage, electricity networks and lighting, in addition to establishing playgrounds, garages, corridors, and some buildings and auditoriums.
He added that the first phase, costing 2,100,000 JOD, is now completed with a building of external walls made of stone and concrete, main and subsidiary gateways, totaling a length of 2400 m.
The main phase also included water harvest tank with a capacity of 12,000 m3, sedimentation tanks, pump rooms, and a fresh water tank with a capacity of 1200 m3.
Engineer Kharabsheh pointed out that these tanks will cover most of the water major needs in the garden location and irrigation works.
He further clarified that King Abdullah II Park was considerably designed to provide visitors with all soothe and comfort, the design is also eco-friendly, using the natural materials to reduce pollution.
Having executed King Abdullah II Park project (of which the construction area is 505 Acres), GAM aims at attaining a balance within the distribution of services, urban and green spaces in all parts of the City, as well as easing the pressure on King Hussein Park in order to relieve the burden on the roads network, transportation, and the infrastructure. This will lead to an integrated vision of the (City Park) in terms of concept, and creative design which gives (the city park) the perspective of a vital space embracing all events and activities.
It should be noted that the conceptual design of the project is based on creating a green park of an architectural formation involving main and sub corridors meeting at a main square, which is the heart of the project, as well as the new topographic configuration of land shaped as height-varying green hills embracing the buildings inside.
