First Gulf Bank holds three-day blood donation drive

In line with its “Community First” initiative, First Gulf Bank (FGB), the leading banking partner of choice in the UAE, organized a blood donation campaign for its staff in cooperation with the Blood Bank Abu Dhabi. The campaign corresponds with FGB’s corporate social responsibility strategy, and its continuous efforts in aiding humanitarian and social needs in the Emirati community.
The blood donation drive took place over three days from June 7-9, the campaign was held at both FGB’s head office and the bank’s Mussafah Branch. The campaign received widespread participation from FGB’s staff.
Abdulwahed Juma, Head of Corporate Affairs, said; “As part of FGB’s corporate social responsibility initiative ‘Community First’, we have today launched our “Charity First” campaign, which encourages our employees to participate in volunteer work and underpins FGB’s commitment to charitable organizations.”
He added, “As part of our ongoing commitment to people and the communities within which it operates, and to become a more socially responsible bank, we have launched a number of campaigns which will benefit the greater UAE society”.
Dr. Marina Kazim Al-Bastaki, MD at Abu Dhabi Blood Bank: “Every minute of every day someone in the world needs blood and those who donate their blood can give others a chance to live. The blood we collect from donors goes on to be used to treat patients with terminal illnesses and all donations, no matter how small, can make a real difference. I would like to commend FGB’s efforts and we are pleased to have witnessed such a large number of employees who participated in the drive to help those in need and to save lives.”
This blood donation drive is part of an array of social responsibility campaigns which have been undertaken by First Gulf Bank, including a road safety campaign, “Safety First”, launched in May to educate young children on the importance of abiding by the rules of the road. FGB also ran a “Family First” campaign last month which coincided with “World Family Day”, to highlight the importance of family life and the role it plays in strengthening the society of the UAE.
