The Bahraini actress Zainab Al Askari is preparing for a new television drama series called “Lanat Al Maraah” (The Curse of a Woman) that discusses women’s issues.
Critics have accused Zainab of tarnishing the image of Khaliji (Gulf) women through her conflicting and daring roles, because the Khaliji culture is conservative.
In one of her drama series, she played the role of a prostitute that was considered controversial.
According to the London daily Elaph, Zainab recently appeared as a guest on the show “Waqif Ya Zaman” (Time Standstill) with the co-host Wisam Bridi. On the show she said that she would love to live during the time of Queen Zanobia, since she finds the culture of the era fascinating.
Zainab also said that if she was not an actress, she would love to be a school teacher.
Zainab is the owner of the production company “Binit Al Mamlakah” (Daughter of the Kingdom) and is writing scripts for khaliji drama series.
