Yousef Shain’s Banned Films to be Screened

The Egyptian TV censorship has agreed to screen a number of films produced by the director Yousef Shahin, which have previously been banned from screening on the Egyptian TV, according to the Arabic daily Al Bayan. 

The films are Mercedes starring Yusra, Sariqat Saifiyya (Summer Thefts) starring Abla Kamel, Shahhadon Wa Nubalaa (beggars and Nobles) starring Salah Al Saadani and Al Abwab Al Moghlaqa (Closed Doors) directed by Atef Hatata and starring Mahmoud Hamida and Abla Kamel.  

Shahin and the Egyptian Radio and TV Association signed a contract giving the association the copyright of his films for 25 years in return for two million pounds for each film. 

Although Shahin got his money, the censorship rejected screening some of his film. Now the ban is dropped and the films will be screened on the Egyptian Satellite TV next Fiter Feast – Albawaba.com
