Yahia Al Fakharani rejects King Farouq

Despite his eagerness for the upcoming television drama series “Al Malik Farouq” (King Farouq), written by his wife Lamis Jabir five years ago, prominent Egyptian actor has regretfully turned down his nomination for the leading role.  The <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Egyptian Media City had given its approval to produce the film and pay all the expenses.

 

According to the London based weekly, Laha, Yahia stressed that he is unable to play the role of King Farouq now, but five years ago he could with the help of a makeup artist. Yahia added that the most important years for the late king were during his twenties and thirties, which is a role he can portray at his current age.

 

On a different note, Yahia had announced that he insists on holding on to his famous play “Al Malek Lear” (King Lear) and plans on resuming its performance either at the Cairo Opera House or the Al Gomhourya theater. The actor stressed that the play has witnessed enormous success not only in Egypt but around the Arab world and Europe.

 

Yahia had previously received an exclusive invitation to perform his popular play (King Lear) in Italy and France. Yahia also received an invitation to perform the play, which has become one of the most popular in theater history, in Qatar and Algeria. The actor expressed his utmost joy at the special invitations that prove his play is a big success. 

  

The play directed by Ahmad Abdul Halim, costars Sawsan Badr, Ashraf Abdul Ghafour, and Riham Abdul Ghafour.
