ALBAWABA - Ivana Lisette Ortiz, the woman accused of shooting at Rihanna's Los Angeles mansion while she was at home, was charged on Tuesday.
Ivana Lisette Ortiz was charged with 14 counts, including attempted murder, using a firearm, assault with a semiautomatic firearm, and shooting into a building that was occupied with enhancements.
Ortiz showed up quickly in a Los Angeles criminal courtroom on Tuesday afternoon, but her arraignment was put off until almost the end of the month.
Police in Los Angeles said Tuesday morning that Ortiz drove from Florida to Los Angeles before the killing. From what I know, the guy drove here from Florida. How long have they lived there? "I don't know that," said Jim McDonnell, chief of the LAPD. "That's being worked on. " Part of the reason the person came out here would be this reason. Even though we haven't found out why they did it, we are aware of social media posts that they are looking into further.
Police say she went to the singer's house on Sunday afternoon with a semiautomatic gun and fired several shots at it. The singer was at home with her boyfriend A$AP Rocky, their three kids, her mother, and two staff members. There was no harm.
Bail for Ortiz was first set at more than $10 million, but it was later lowered to $1.875 million.
Police stated that the shooting injured 10 people, which led to the setting of Ortiz's bail at $10 million. It's not clear why the bail was lowered.
A deputy prosecutor named Nathan Hochman said, "The message is obvious and simple." If you want to shoot at homes with people in them, we will arrest, charge, and punish you for bringing guns into this county from Florida or anywhere else.
He also said that Ortiz's motivation is being fully looked into and that "law enforcement will be looking at any videos on social media and any other evidence they can find to both understand her motivation and why she did these specific acts."
Oriz could spend the rest of his life in state jail if he is found guilty of all charges.
More about the shooting at Rihanna's house
Sources say that several shots were fired at the house, but none of them went inside. Only the outside hit the target. However, several shots struck the outside of the house and a car parked in front of it.
Video from the scene showed tape over the bullet holes on the front gate of the house.
Some people say that Ortiz used a gun that looks like an AR-15, which is a lightweight semi-automatic rifle that is popular for both civilian and military use. Two of the houses on the block had holes in them from bullets.
Audio from the dispatch center shows that police followed the suspect's Tesla into a mall parking basement, where she was stopped and questioned by patrol units.
Police are trying to find out if Ortiz knew that Rihanna lived at the house. Police sources told ABC News that they are looking at all parts of Ortiz's life, including her social media accounts, to find answers, even though the reason for the shooting is still being looked into.
