The Alexandria Film International Festival declared the winners of its awards during the closing ceremony held on Monday. The Moroccan film Ali Zawa won the best film award, according to the Egyptian Satellite Channel 1.
Nabil Ayoush, the director of Ali Zawa, also won the best director award as well as the best editing award for Robert Toman. The three children, Munes Kabab, Mustafa Handhali and Hisham Mosoni, who play the starring roles in Ali Zawa received certificates of recognition.
Nancho Peres and Geses Roitz won the best screenplay award for the Spanish film Marta’s World. Gorges Lechaitois won the best photography award for the Bosnian film: The Heroes.
The best actress award went to both Ivana Meshti for the Yugoslavian film Work Mechanism and Basma for the Egyptian film Al Naamah Wal Taous (The Ostrich and the Peacock). The first film award went to both the Danish film The Faint Light and the Hungarian film I Love Budapest.
The Cinema Writers and Critics Society’s certificates of recognition for Egyptian films were as follows:
The best story award went to the film Al Naamah Wal Taous directed by late Salah Abu Seif and his son Mohammed, the best screenplay for Deil Al Samaka (The Fish Tail) written by Wahid Hamed, the best music for Al Naamah Wal Taous composed by Omar Khairat.
Samir Faraj won the best photography award for the film Granita Margarita, Enaiat Al Saies won the best editing for Haffar Al Bahr, and the best decoration award went to the film Deil Al Samaka.
Omar Waked won the best actor award for Deil Al Samaka and the best actress award was withheld. Rauof Mustafa won the best supporting actor for Deil Al Samaka and the best supporting actress went for Mohsina Tawfiq for the same film.
The best director award went for both Samir Seif (Deil Al Samaka) and Adel Al Aa’sar (Haffar Al Bahr). The film Deil Al Samaka also won the best film produced by the Egyptian Co. of the Media Production City – Albawaba.com
