No-nonsense actor Willem Dafoe will step into the big-screen adaptation of Spider-Man and fill the arachnid archenemy Green Goblin costume previously being reserved for John Malkovich.
According to Mr. Showbiz, Malkovich apparently couldn’t reach an agreement with Columbia Pictures, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Instead, Dafoe will play the Green Goblin, the madman neighbor-villain who lives to terrorize Tobey Maguire’s Peter Parker.
Dafoe’s steely demeanor should serve Spidey well. The gap-toothed actor currently portrays a prison thug in Animal Factory and appears in the upcoming film noir Shadow of a Vampire.
Sam Raimiwill direct Dafoe and Maguire. Production is scheduled to begin in January. – Albawaba.com.
