Prominent Algerian singer Warda has been chosen by organizers of the Lebanese Ba’albak Music Festival to give the opening performance on August 13, marking her return to the spotlight.

According to the UAE based daily, Al Bayan, Warda will give her performance on the famous theater stage of Ba’albak, and her nomination is a Lebanese honor.

Warda has returned to Cairo where she will reside on a permanent basis, but will make frequent visits to Algeria. She has sold her apartment in Paris in anticipation of the move.

The singer was recently in Paris for a few months to undergo medical testing to ensure that the liver transplant she had a few years ago is functioning as it should, and that she is in general good health.

Warda’s doctors advised her two years ago to resign from her singing career after her health condition deteriorated, stressing that holding concerts could be hazardous to her health.

However, the singer has already begun preparations for her upcoming album.

The last performance the singer held was during Algeria’s Independence Day celebrations. She performed a special song, honoring her beloved country and commemorating her return to the industry.
