Born in Paris to an Algerian father and Lebanese mother, and living most of her life in Egypt, renowned diva Warda has announced that she will sell her Cairo-Egypt apartment overlooking the Nile river to move back permanently to her home country Algeria. Her decision was reached earlier this month when she began moving back some of her belongings and selling some, which were not fit to ship back.

According to the London based daily, Al Sharq Al Awsat, Warda received an offer of one million and a half Egyptian pounds for her apartment but refused it asking for two million and a half saying her apartment is like a fancy villa and no ordinary apartment.

Before her departure the singer met with producer Muhsin Jaber and negotiated with him over the price of her recent album, which she recorded after her recovery from heart surgery she underwent in Paris last year.

Her last night in Cairo was spent with her closest friend Egyptian actress Nabila Obeid. Until this moment Wardah has not announced if she will continue her thirty-year singing career from Algeria or bring it to a halt.

Warda holds more than two hundred songs throughout her singing career. She cooperated with great composers in her life, like Riad Al Sonbaty, Baligh Hamdy, Mohammed Abdul Wahab, Sayed Mekkawy, Mohammed Al Mogy, Farid Al Atrash, Helmy Bakr, and many others.

On the big screen, she starred in "Sout Al Hob" (Voice of Love), "Hekayty Maa Al Zaman" (My Story With Time) in 1973, "Ah Ya Leil Ya Zaman" (Oh! Night and Life) in 1977, "Leih Ya Donia" (Why This My Life?!) in 1993. She also performed in one play "Tamr Henna", and one series" Awraq Al Ward" (Flowers Buds). Warda’s last album was "Ana Leyah Meen Gherak" (Whom Do I Have Except You!?) released in May 2001.
