Algerian singer Warda has announced that she never resigned from her singing career and moved off to reside permanently in Algeria. The singer stressed that she merely took time off to be with family and friends in Algeria and now she has returned to her apartment in Cairo-Egypt, which previous rumors said that she had sold it, to continue her career plans.
According to the London based daily, Al Hayat, Warda’s return is proof that all recent circulating rumors are not true. The singer stated that she had never received orders from doctors to stop singing, and never bought a new house in Algeria, and most important never ended her singing career.
Warda said that after her 6 month vacation, she has returned to Cairo to resume work on a new album in which she plans to release once it is finalized. She revealed that she will be working with composer Salah Al Sharnoubi, whom she has chosen to compose the songs in her album.
Last month, the organizing committee for the Alexandria Song Festival in Egypt presented Warda with an honorary award along with a number of selected prominent singers from around the globe. The event took place end of June, with the participation of 11 Mediterranean countries. The judging committee for the festival was composed of Western and Arab judges some of which are prominent singers. Warda was awarded the award at the opening ceremony of the festival along with Lebanese singer Sabah.
Recently, it was rumored that had left her life in Cairo to move back to her country Algeria and reside there permanently selling all her personal belongings. In addition to the rumor that Warda’s health condition began deteriorating tremendously forcing her to remain home, adding that her status led her to refuse any offers to hold any form of entertainment or participation in any event. The singer was also unable to complete her upcoming album and had to apologize to composers and producers.
Warda holds more than two hundred songs throughout her singing career. She cooperated with great composers in her life, like Riad Al Sonbaty, Baligh Hamdy, Mohammed Abdul Wahab, Sayed Mekkawy, Mohammed Al Mogy, Farid Al Atrash, Helmy Bakr, and many others.
On the big screen, she starred in "Sout Al Hob" (Voice of Love), "Hekayty Maa Al Zaman" (My Story With Time) in 1973, "Ah Ya Leil Ya Zaman" (Oh! Night and Life) in 1977, "Leih Ya Donia" (Why This My Life?!) in 1993. She also performed in one play "Tamr Henna", and one series" Awraq Al Ward" (Flowers Buds). Warda’s last album was "Ana Leyah Meen Gherak" (Whom Do I Have Except You!?) released in May 2001.
Born in Paris to an Algerian father and Lebanese mother, and living most of her life in Egypt, renowned diva Warda has announced that she will sell her Cairo-Egypt apartment overlooking the Nile river to move back permanently to her home country Algeria.
