ALBAWABA - French streamer Jean Pormanove dies during live broadcast, sparking investigation.
Police said Raphaël Graven, who was also known as Jean Pormanove, was discovered dead at home in Contes, a town north of Nice.
During streams, the 46-year-old had violent episodes and didn't get enough sleep. He died in his sleep during a live show, according to local media.
A French government minister, Clara Chappaz, confirmed that a criminal investigation was underway. She called Mr. Graven's death and the violence he had to suffer an "absolute horror" and said he had been "humiliated" for months.
Kick is a live-streaming platform like Twitch where users can broadcast material and chat with other users in real time. A spokesperson for Kick told the BBC that the company was "urgently reviewing" the circumstances of the streamer's death.
"We are deeply saddened by the loss of Jean Pormanove and extend our condolences to his family, friends, and community," they added.
The community rules for the platform were "made to protect creators," and a spokesperson for Kick said that the company was "committed to upholding these standards across our platform."

Chappaz, the minister delegate for digital technologies and artificial intelligence, said she had brought the matter to the attention of Arcom, the French media regulator, and Pharos, a French system used to report online material.
The death was called "horrifying" by France's High Commissioner for Children, Sarah El Haïry.
There is a huge responsibility on platforms to police internet content so that our kids don't see violent things. She wrote on X, "I urge parents to be cautious."
The prosecutor's office told the AFP news agency that it had started a probe into the death and asked for an autopsy.
On all of his social media sites, Jean Pormanove had more than a million followers, and he had built a strong group on Kick.
He told everyone about Jean Pormanove's death on Instagram. Owen Cenazandotti, better known as Naruto, called him his "brother, sidekick, partner," and he asked people to "respect" his memory by not posting videos of his "last breath" online.
