Get your groove on 'cause Arab Idol winner Mohammad Assaf is hosting not one, but three concerts FREE of charge in Palestine.
Fame didn't get to his head, nor has he forgotten about his people and the tough living conditions they're going through.
People over money; why can't everyone be like that every once in a while?
Palestinian General Major Jibril Rajoub - Head of the Supreme Council For Youth and Sports - made the announcement in a press release yesterday morning.
Rajoub said that a Committee headed by the Minister of Culture, Anwar Abu Aysheh, has been formed. Other members of the Committee are The Bank of Palestine, the Director of Protocol for Presidency, Jawal, Al Wataniyah Communications; in addition to a representative of the Supreme Council of Youth.
With such influential individuals on board, accomplished Dr. Ghassan Al Khateeb will be overseeing the concerts, to be held in the cities of Ramallah, Nablus and Khalil.
Make some space people! If 5000 people attended Assaf's performance in Dubai, we wonder just how many will turn up in Palestine!
Rajoub addressed a letter thanking the Chairman of MBC Group, Sheikh Walid Al Ibrahim, for allowing Assaf to perform without any commercial commitments.
In his letter Rajoub said: "Your efforts in promoting our people and their cause and in crowning our great singer Mohammad Assaf are immortal in our hearts and minds. Your stance in allowing our star to perform for his fellow countrymen, to honor the people of the occupied Palestine is proof of the credibility of your nation and your humanity. This approval, which excludes Palestine from the commercial commitment is highly appreciated from you and your respected company.”
Assaf has so much love coming his way; all concert costs will be covered by the Supreme Council of Youth and Sports, Jawal, Al Wataniyah Communications and The Bank of Palestine.
This kid has a bright future ahead of him. Don't go changing now Assaf!
