The gloves came off as The Voice entered its second round of battles this weekend. Contestants packed a punch in vocal duels and as the competition heated up more talented singers were booted out of the race for failing to cut the mustard in the eyes of the coaches.
It was a relatively easy start to the night for Assi Helani as, in the battle of Eli Asmar and Amjad Rahal, Asmar proved himself to be in another league and walked away with the win. But, Assi's team's second sing-off proved a harder choice for the 'Arab Knight': Sufian Al Othmani and Mouri Hatem's memorable version of 'The Show Must Go On' left the coach in two minds as to who would be the best addition to his vocal team, before he finally settled on Mouri.
This week Saber Al Rubai once again cut the whacky antics of the 'blind' auditions to get down to the serious business of picking his final team. After two tough sing-offs he added popular contestants Lamia Al Ziyadi and Lamia Al Jamal to his team, leaving their competitors Mariam Shajari and Mahmoud Tariq disappointed to be out of the running.
Never normally one to stick to the rules, feisty superstar Sherine Abdel Wahab managed to choose two contestants for her final team without too much of a fuss this week. The judging panel's only female coach paired up Angie Amin and Catherine Hani to sing Sayed Darwish's song 'Howah Da ili Sar'. After some deliberation the Egyptian beauty decided that Angie had outshone her competitor and welcomed her onto her team. And, Angie was soon joined by popular contestant Mohammad Adli.
A highlight of the night came from Iraqi coach Kathem Al Saher's team, as three of his contestants battled it out in a triple sing-off of Whitney Houston's 'I Will Always Love You'. The picky panelist once again managed to make the difficult decision look relatively simple, naming Nour Eriksousi - the contestant who had most closely followed Kathem's vocal tips - as winner. And, the 'Caesar of Arabic music' kept his cool for his final decision of the night, welcoming Radwan Qutiesh onto his team after an impressive performance of Al Jasmi's song 'Bahibak Wahashtni'.
After a tense night of competition, viewers who saw their favorite acts come out on top can't wait to show their support when the power is handed over to the public in Round Three.
