ALBAWABA - The result of Taylor Swift's formal "Tortured Poets Department" meeting is a massive 31-song double album.

Taylor Swift's much anticipated new album, 'The Tortured Poets Department,' arrived in the early hours of Friday with a surprising double album format and 15 more tracks.

The Grammy-winning artist released her highly anticipated 11th studio album on Friday, with the record being available on Apple Music ahead of its planned midnight release time. Swift then surprised fans by releasing an additional 15-song album called "TTPD: The Anthology" at 2 a.m. EDT.

The musician defined the collection as "an anthology of new works that reflect events, opinions, and sentiments from a fleeting and fatalistic moment in time—one that was both sensational and sorrowful in equal measure."

Adding: "This time of the author's life is now over, with the chapter closed and boarded up. After the wounds have healed, there is nothing to take revenge for or settle. And, upon closer examination, many of them turned out to be self-inflicted. This writer believes that our tears become sacred in the form of ink on a page. We may be liberated from our most painful memories after we've told them. And all that remains is the tormented poetry."

The initial 16-track "Tortured Poets Department" album appears to be a relaxed and mellow listen on the surface, but if you pay attention to the lyrics, as most Swifties do, you'll discover a chaotic and complicated stream of consciousness in which Swift moves through waves of heartbreak, longing, anger, and self-reflection.

One example is the album's 12th track, "loml" (internet slang for "love of my life"), in which Swift sings, "I wish I could un-recall how we almost had it all." After singing the lyrics "love of my life," she finishes, "You're the loss of my life."

Swift tweeted on her verified Instagram profile on Friday that the album is "an anthology of new works that reflect events, opinions, and sentiments from a fleeting and fatalistic moment in time—one that was both sensational and sorrowful in equal measure" to commemorate its release.
