The 19th Taurino International Film Festival in Italy will hold an event entitled Panorama of the Egyptian Cinema starting on Nov. 15 to shed light on the history and current status of this sector, according to the daily Al Ahram.
Some 50 films will be screened during the event, which will last until Nov. 24, including Al Azima Wal Ard (Will and Land), Dua’a Al Karawan (Curlew Prayers), Al Less Wal Kilab (Thief and Dogs), Juyoush Al Shams (Sun Armies), Al Momyaa (Mummy), Al Fallah Al Fassih (Fluent Peasant), Al Naeb Al A’am (Prosecutor General), Emraa Fil Tariq (Woman on the Road), Salama Bkheir (Salameh is Good), Tharthara Fawq Al Nil (Blabbing on the Nile), Siraa’ Fil Nil (Struggle in the Nile) Mohammed Bayyoumi, Lua’bet Kulla Yawm (Everyday Game) and others.
The festival management has invited Egyptian Minister of Culture Farouk Hosni, the Egyptian ambassador to Italy, Nihad Abdel Latif, the head of the Egyptian Academy in Rome, Farouk Wahbah and a number of elite cinema directors and critics. These include Ali Abu Shadi, head of the Egyptian cinema sector, Yousef Sherif, Risqallah and Samir Farid and actors Omar Sharif, Madihah Yusri and Esaad Yunes.
