Through his new short film Al Haraka Al Khamisa, Syrian director Basel Al Khatib raises the question: "Why have ordinary Arabs become indifferent about the Palestinian Intifada?"

The 10-minute film was written by Dalaa’ Al Rahrbi and costars Sabah Al Jazaeri, Salloum Haddad and child actor Nawar Zedan, according to the London-based daily Al Hayat.

Khatib has just finished shooting Al Haraka Al Khamisa, his seventh short film. However, Qiyamet Al Madina has been seens as his most important work.

“The film is an attempt to pose a question about the reasons...that make ordinary people indifferent towards what is going on in Palestine,” the director told the daily.

He added, “I tackled this question through the relationship between a couple and their child who evokes their feelings indirectly to become concerned and involved in the Palestinian Intifada.” – Albawaba.com
