A Lebanese court has sentenced Lebanese singer Suzan Tamim to two years in prison and a fine of 400 thousand Lebanese liras, in addition to paying 250 thousand US dollars to her ex-husband producer Adel Ma’touq. The court also demanded that the singer pay an extra fine of 25 thousand US$ in compensation for damage caused.
Recently, Suzan was indicted by The Egyptian Interpol based on the Lebanese request, but she was then released after the Lebanese Embassy in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Cairo ordered her acquittal. Adel Ma'touq, Suzan’s former business manager filed a lawsuit accusing her of stealing 350 US dollars and fleeing to Egypt.
Adel stressed that he is determined to have Suzan prosecuted and even detained. Adel has been haunting Suzan for almost a year, the main reason being that Suzan had broken a contract between them. Adel, who owns a production company is determined to have Suzan pay for breaking the contract and has been trying to stop all her entertainment activities.
Adel also claimed that Suzan is legally married to him and he has the right to prohibit her from leaving Lebanon. Adel revealed that he owns legal documents that prove their marriage and insists on taking actions against the singer who has been running away from him.
Suzan denied the accusation and said that Ma'touq was only her business manager and not her husband. Tamim has also denied that she stole the 350 thousand US dollars from Adel, who claims that she is married to him. The singer denied all allegations against her stressing that she will prove her innocence.
