The first Summer International Festival will kick off Monday at the plaza of Alexandria Library, with the participation of a large number of song and music stars from nine countries, according to the Egyptian daily al Gomhuria.
The event which will last till August 22, includes concerts performed by singer Mohammed Munir and musician Omar Khairat from Egypt, singer Majida al Roomi, Nidal al Shqar from Lebanon, Iraqi musician Nassir Shamma and several theatrical and music troupes from Senegal, the US, Italy, Sweden, Uruguay and Greece.
Egyptian maestro Sherif Mohyeddin, the head of the artistic programs at Alexandria Library revealed that agreements were made with a number of Egyptian and world stars to participate in the event, adding that extensive preparations were made for the first session of the festival, especially for the opening ceremony.
“An open-air theater was purposely built for the event, which is considered as the modernist open-air theater in Egypt,” said Mohyeddin – Albawaba.com
