Comedy star Said Saleh has announced that Adel Imam and Ahmed Zaki have agreed to appear as guests of honor in his new film Al Eyal Kibret Awi (The Kids Have Grown Too Big).
The film is the second part of the play Al Eyal Kibret, which costarred Saleh, Yunes Shalabi and Hasan Mustafa in the late 1970s.
Saleh told the London-based daily Al Sharq Al Awsat that he had contacted the director, Nader Jalal, to set a date for shooting the film, which will start from the point at which the play ended.
The film explores the life of the play’s “sons” after they get married, have children and build their own families. They face problems raising their kids exactly like their father, Hasan Mustafa, and mother, Karima Mukhtar.
Saleh added that he would seek the help of the play’s stars as much as possible, so that his film would gain more credibility. He has secured the acceptance of Mustafa, Mukhtar, Shalabi and Zaki to perform in the film.
Saleh confirmed that shooting was recently delayed due to Shalabi’s sickness, and was also postponed for two years ago due to production complications.
“Esa’d Yunes got enthusiastic about the film and agreed to have it produced by the Arab Company for Cinema Production,” he said.
Meanwhile, Jalal has nominated a number of new actors to perform the roles of the sons of Al Eyal Kibret, including Mohammed Saad, Yasmin Abdel Aziz and Ahmed Zaher. Comedy star Ahmed Rizq has agreed to perform the role of Shalabi’s son.
