What is Solo Leveling about?
A-1 Pictures
Solo Leveling is a Korean Webtoon illustrated by the late artist Dubu and written by Chugong. It was first serialized in Kakao's digital comic and fiction platform KakaoPage as a light novel in 2016. It's considered among Manhwa fans (Korean comics) to be one of the best comics to come out of Korea.
Synopsis:
It tells the story of humans who are referred to as hunters that awaken their powers after “The Gate” arose ten years ago, bridging the gap between the world and the domain of magic and monsters.
20-year-old Sung Jin-Woo is known as the “World’s Weakest” because of his weak powers compared to other hunters. Despite being weak and pitiful, he continues to hunt monsters and afford his sick mother's medical procedures.
A surprising event happens leaving Sung in a hospital with a weird screen floating in front of him, what could this mean?

A-1 Pictures did a great job adapting the first episode although we think that it would've been great for the series if it received an hour-long opening special rather than a 20-minute-long episode to also see the evil and iconic smile from one of the show's villains!
Fans of the Solo Leveling manhwa also voiced their concerns about the characters receiving different names from the original material but we didn't find it to be that out of place as it's normal to have some change when adapting something to another language.
