The American rap star Snoop Dogg is set to make his Dubai debut on New Year’s Eve, reported the Gulf News on Saturday.
The Atelier Live festival will see the return of the hip-hop superstar to the UAE.
Abu Dhabi was treated to a performance by the hard rapping artist last year, however fans were left disappointed when he did not return to the stage for an encore.
He did fulfill his promise that he would return to the country before the end of 2012.
The US gangsta rapper will headline a New Year’s Eve show at the Meydan racecourse in Dubai, and is the first in a number of acts to be announced according to the Gulf News report.
Snoop Dogg surprised local fans when he stepped out on stage in an Emirati-style ‘kandura’, or ‘dish-dash’, last year.
Although he let slip plenty of expletive-filled lyrics throughout the show, Snoop entertainted the crowd like a pro.
The Californian artist can be expected to drop a few numbers from his newest album, Doggumentary, as well as classic songs from his 20-year career, including Ain’t Nuthin’ but a G Thang, Tha Shiznit, Drop It Like It’s Hot, and Beautiful.
Whether or not he performs as Snoop Lion — his new stage name announced in July — remains to be seen, having told the media he was “rechristened Snoop Lion by a Rastafarian priest in Jamaica.”
