Egyptian singer Shireen Wajdi has given her initial acceptance to be part of the prestigious Jordanian Jarash summer festival, to be among the large list of prominent Arab singers who will be participating in the big event.

According to the London based Elaph, Shireen will also be taking part in a number of other festivals around the Arab world expanding her popularity. The singer recently shot a new song "Oyoun Al Atfal" (Eyes of Children), under the direction of Rami Imam (Son of Egyptian comedian actor Adel Imam), in the form of a music video as a special dedication to children every where around the world. The song was translated into a number of languages, and was chosen by UNICEF to be the highlight of all the charity events they plan to hold supporting the hungry and needy children.

Shireen and Egyptian singer Amr Diab recently held a joint concert at the American University in Cairo theater stage. Amr decided to participate in the event after he had joined Rotana Music Production Company, which Shireen is already a member of. The event proved a huge success with the two singers' popularity running extremely high in Egypt and abroad as well.

Wajdi was nominated for the leading role in the new TV drama series that revolves around the life of Algerian renowned singer Warda. It was revealed that the script of the series is currently being prepared and written by Mahfouz Abdul Rahma, who is the same writer that wrote the successful drama series Umm Kalthoom tackling the life of the late icon Kawkab Al Sharq, in complete secrecy.

Shireen will play the role of Warda tackling different stages throughout the great singer's life. The drama will be produced under the supervision of Shireen's husband, Ehab Til'at. Scenes will revolve around the beginning of Warda's career and discovering her talent, then moving on to her marriage and resignation from the music world, and ending with her return to Cairo and singing once more after her divorce, and finally will include scenes about her relationship with the late prominent Egyptian composer Baligh Hamdi.

Shireen had previously filed a lawsuit against composer Mohammed Ali Sulieman and journalist Talal Teima, editor-in-chief of Zahrat al-Khaleej magazine, for insulting and undermining her publicly. The magazine had published and article which included fierce statements made by the composer comparing Shireen to Egyptian folk singer Shaban Abdul Rahim in terms of looks and style. The article had caused Shireen a lot of embarrassments amidst other female singers in the Middle East. She demanded compensation for the psychological and financial damages caused as a result of such rude and improper comments. –Albawaba.com
