Shereen Saif El Nasr has revealed that the reason behind her return to her homeland, Egypt, was not her divorce.
In fact, the reason lies greatly in her love for her country.
In an interview with Al Ahram newspaper, Shereen said that “most of whom I worked with before I traveled after my marriage stood by me when I came back and encouraged me to continue pouring energy into acting. They also offered me tens of roles.”
She named some of the ‘friends’ she is referring to as Tayseer Aboud, Ala Walliedine, Sharif Munir, Yusra, Hala Sudqi and more.
“I was very touched by the kind words they gave me,” she said.
Shereen also gave the Egyptian daily a small summary of her four year retirement from acting.
“I lived in London for four years where I felt a lot of pain, loneliness and nostalgia for my country. Despite my happy marriage, the coldness of London did not let me enjoy myself too much. It also always made me think of ging back to Egypt and now I have fulfilled this dream.”
Added the actress, “I sacrificed my life for my husband. But after the divorce I immediately left.”
“I came back to my family, friends, fans and the people I love dearly,” said Shereen.
As for her return to the seventh art, the blond beauty said “I am currently getting ready to film Al Wishah El Abiad (The White Veil), written by the great author Mohammad Abdul Halim Abdullah and co-starring Saeed Abdul Ghani, Mohammad Riyadh and Adel Hashem.”
“In this role, I am a middle class girl who is gifted with a talent for singing. She is, however, constantly faced with challenges. But, with a lot of persistence, she prevails in the end,” explained Shereen.
Furthermore, the upper class actress revealed that she is also working on various other films, including one directed by the famous Egyptian, Youssef Francise.
“In this role, I will play a journalist. This film will be shot in Europe,” she added.
Meanwhile, the actress has not abandoned her love for the small screen.
“I am soon to start on a series called La Yazal Al Hub Mustamir (Love Still Goes On), co-starring Hussein Fahmi.”
This series will be shot in Lebanon, according to Shereen. – Albawaba.com.
