Dubai International Marine Club (DIMC) is once again hosting a thrilling line-up of traditional and new watersports, from magnificent wooden dhow racing to modern sailing and waterbike racing. The 2018-19 season kicks off with a 22ft Dubai traditional dhow sailing race. During the eight-month season, each of the 22ft (6.7m), 43ft (13.1m) and 60ft (18.2m) dhow sailing championships will comprise three rounds, while there will be four rounds of the 30ft rowing championships, with the season finale in April 2019.
Founded in 1988, DIMC proudly organised the waterborne racing series to encourage sporting excellence and to take advantage of Dubai's lengthy coastline. Many of the dhows are owned by Sheikhs, and the races can attract around 100 or more of the traditional wooden-hulled craft.
