ALBAWABA - Sean "Diddy" Combs's life is drastically different now, months after musician Cassie Ventura sued him.
The public's viewing of the CCTV footage would irrevocably alter Sean "Diddy" Combs's reputation. Anyone who has seen the graphic footage of Combs thrashing his ex-girlfriend Cassie in a hotel corridor could not have been mistaken about the hip-hop superstar's abusive past.
From his humble beginnings as an intern at a musical company to becoming the current head of Bad Boy Records, the guy went on to become a popular personality who could inspire voting movements, fashion lines, and record albums.
After Cassie first sued Combs in November, claiming that he had beaten her and subjected her to psychological torture, among other horrendous acts of violence, he was already facing several charges. Since then, six more lawsuits have surfaced, accusing the rapper and ex-brand entrepreneur of sex trafficking, violence, coercive drugging, and rape.
Now, five people who worked with Combs in the past have spoken up to The Daily Beast, claiming that the rapper's terrible work environment was a continuation of his violent behavior at home.
Former colleagues recounted Combs' "erratic" conduct at Blue Flame, his now-shuttered advertising firm, and his lifestyle brand Sean John, detailing incidents of him grabbing, berating, and threatening them. Because they were afraid for their safety, these ex-employees talked to The Daily Beast anonymously.
A female former employee of Sean John's recounted a terrifying incident in which Combs slapped her face after they had a disagreement about an artistic choice. "He was unhappy that I disagreed with him, and he wasn't keen on considering my viewpoint," the ex-employee recounted.
Instead, Combs reportedly started shouting and making derogatory comments about a famous fashion designer. She recalls Combs instructing her to "imagine that you're talking to Karl Lagerfeld" whenever she speaks to her. "Just in case you thought I was talking about Karl Lagerfeld, take my word for it."
"I was speechless at the moment, and he reached out and grabbed my face," she said. "He presses his palms against my cheeks and says, 'Stick out your tongue.' Subsequently, he applies a more severe squeeze, commands me to extend my tongue, and ultimately presses his hands firmly against my face.
She continued by saying that Combs had "just wanted to see if her tongue was bleeding from biting it." She added that she immediately started her job search. To put it simply, I had no interest in being present to endure such abuse. You need to hold him in the highest esteem and consider him a symbol. I opted out. All I wanted to do was get the job done.
Earlier this month, The Daily Beast revealed the horrific security footage of Combs beating Cassie in the corridor of a Los Angeles hotel in 2016, but this former employee was among others who told The Daily Beast that they weren't shocked. "I hit rock bottom," the rapper told followers after CNN released the video of him apologizing. Please do not accuse me. There is no way I can explain my actions in that video. Everything I did in that video was my fault. According to an "insider," Combs was reportedly "incensed" that the hotel video "doesn't tell the full story," as subsequently reported by Page Six.
The former employee expressed regret that the process had taken so long. "I really hope he gets what he deserves."
If federal officials were to see Combs's sex trafficking inquiry as a means to shed light on a criminal operation involving others, they would have to make a stronger case to establish the components of any conspiracy, the timing of which is unknown.
