Outspoken songstress Samira Said has stepped in front of the camera to encourage her fellow Moroccans to stop smoking. The talented artist is putting her fame and pretty face to good use by starring in a television campaign launched by the Moroccan local TV for the fight against smoking. The commercial consists of a message by Samira to smokers around the Arab world, warning them about the consequences of the habit.
According to the Middle East news portal Elaph, Samira said in the commercial, “I do not have a story with cigarettes, but my father, may his soul rest in peace, did have a tragic story with cigarettes for he passed away suffering from lung cancer ten years after he had quit smoking.”
She added, “I am telling you the truth of international reports about smoking and how it is one of the main causes of lung cancer.”
Samira also said, “Whoever comes to my home I welcome him or her with all my heart, but I do ask please do not smoke inside.”
The singer concluded her serious message by trying to bring awareness about the consequences of smoking and stated, “Think hard, for you only have one body and one life to live. Quit smoking and you will see the difference.”
