ALBAWABA - Following Thursday's official confirmation of Rich Homie Quan's death, tributes have been pouring in for the American rapper.

The Fulton County Medical Examiner's office verified Thursday with 11Alive that Rich Homie Quan, an Atlanta rapper, passed away at the age of 33.

Local medical officials plan to conduct an autopsy on Friday to ascertain the cause of death.

Dequantes Devontay Lamar, better known as Rich Homie Quan, was a prominent contemporary rapper from Atlanta.

After breaking through with 2013's Type of Way and 2015's Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh), he became a household figure in the rap industry in the middle of the 2010s.

Best new artist and people's champ were among his many BET and BET Hip Hop Award nominations.

He collaborated with several notable figures in the business, including Trinidad James, Gucci Mane, Young Thug, and 2 Chainz.

The Atlanta concert venue Masquerade states that Rich Homie Quan, who was born in October 1989, grew up in a family with just one parent. He was the eldest of three siblings. He had aspirations of playing baseball at one point, but he shifted his focus to music instead.

He served fifteen months in prison in 2011 for his role in many burglaries, and he was quite forthright about his childhood in multiple interviews.

He became a household figure in the mid-2010s rap scene as he devoted himself fully to music after serving his sentence.

Tributes to the late rap musician have been flooding in since news of his passing spread.

Jacquees, a singer, was one of the first mourners. "May my brother Rich Homie Quan rest in peace," he remarked on X. Subsequently, he referred to the rapper as a "legend" and added, "I love you for life."

On Instagram, 2 Chainz paid tribute to the late rapper, writing, "Dam lil brother, we just spoke about shooting a video, special prayer for you and your family, and pray for anybody and everybody dealing with something, my condolences, bro." A video was reportedly in the works.

Also on Instagram, rapper Quavo wrote, "May God be with us; I never saw this being apart of our journey" over a photo of himself, Rich Homie Quan, and a slew of other musicians.

"One of the nicest people I ever worked with and a true artist," engineer Alex Tumay described Rich Homie Quan, with whom he collaborated for many years. The news is devastating. Rest in peace.
