Egyptian actor Jamil Rateb’s illness and subsequent operation has delayed filming for a new television drama “Wanees Wa Ahwal Al Ibad”. The drama also staring Mohammad Subhi, Samah Anwar, Hana Al Shurbaji and Sameh Al Sariti is due to be aired during Eid Al Adha.
The unforeseen medical condition has forced the team behind the drama to film the scenes that do not feature Jamil until he is back to full health and can resume his staring role.
Subhi has pleaded with the director to give Jamil six weeks to recover but the race against time is on, as the drama has to be broadcast during the upcoming Muslim holiday.
Producers have warned that despite postponing his scenes, should the thespian still be unwell they will be forced to replace Jamil, causing a headache for cast and crew alike as he plays the leading role.
