The Kuwaiti communication ministry has banned the famous Lebanese superstar Ragheb Alameh’s latest album. The permission the company ‘Vanilla’ received to distribute the album in Kuwait was revoked before three months.
A lawsuit was filed by the company ‘Romko,’ claiming that Ragheb released the song “Sir Hobi” (The Secret behind My Love) by the great khaliji (Gulf) singer Abu Baker Salem without the rights to record it. The song was written and composed by Hasan Al Mihdar.
The company “Vanila” was granted the rights by the company “Backstage Production” to distribute Alameh’s new album in Kuwait for two years. After the communication ministry revoked the license Ragheb’s brother and manager Khadi Alameh flew to Kuwait to meet with representatives from the ministry to try and resolve the problem.
Representatives from ‘Vanila’ were shocked by the ministry’s decision since ‘Romko’s’ case is still pending.
Alameh claims that he was granted permission by the late composer’s family to sing the song. For now the rights are divided between Alameh and ‘Ramko’ until the court makes official ruling.
On the other hand, the famous Lebanese superstar met with his fans in Syria, where he made an official opening for the summer season there. There were huge numbers of Syrian fans who came from various Syrian cities and towns.
Aside from his Syrian fans a great number of Jordanian fans came in groups to Damascus to see their beloved superstar and to listen to his music from his latest album.
