Syrian actress, Raghda, known for her undying love for President Bashar al Assad, accused the Free Syrian Army (FSA) earlier this week of kidnapping her father when a picture of him wearing their flag popped up on Facebook.

Although even fans were a little confused, the starlet was adamant. Now Raghda is claiming that the FSA have asked her for a ransom, according to an exclusive statement in Middle East news portal, Elaph.

She is convinced that the opposition fighters are trying to make her turn away from her beloved president. However, it looks like dad, Haj Mahmoud, doesn't feel the same.

The star's father has publicly denied the claims that he has been kidnapped, saying instead that he has turned against the regime in favor of his "love for the country".

In response to the statement, Raghda issued one of her own, saying: " My father was born in 1923, he has been ill for the past 11 years, he suffers from severe memory loss. That is the reason why they sufficed with only publishing the picture and not a video. It is impossible for him to say what he said, am sure they had him memorize it. My dad was kidnapped, and am being haggled to change my stance."
