The eagerly awaited Quoz Arts Fest returns to the alleys of Alserkal Avenue to celebrate community, culture and art. Friends, families and even pets are invited to delight in a slew of curated activities, exhibitions, live performances and more over two days during this dynamic culture carnival.
Titled 'CTRL+ALT+ACTION', this year’s edition centres on the theme of sustainability. The festival investigates how small changes in our lifestyles can impact large-scale economic, environmental and social improvements.
The Quoz Arts Fest is a treasure trove of fun for the whole community. Free entry opens up a world of activity, from workshops and Alserkal Avenue tours to film screenings, live music and even unique food concepts.
Explore the range of exhibitions, from a showcase of Emirati wildlife at Mirzam by the EMF/WWF to product manufacturing that can outlive generations at ikonhouse. For those interested in more hands-on fun, ChariCycles and ‘Metal Art by Nikhil.es’ will both offer upcycling art workshops for children and adults. At the same time, CHI-KA, a contemporary kimono and art space, will be hosting an interactive class on the power of composting.
That’s not all happening at Alserkal Avenue. One sight to look out for is 'Putting for Pleasure and Politics,’ a group exhibition curated by NYU Abu Dhabi professor David Darts displaying nine artist-designed mini-golf holes. There is also a Reel Palestine public film screening on 26 January that you don’t want to miss.
During this period, The Junction will be hosting the Short+Sweet Theatre Festival, a six-week collection of 10-minute plays by local writers, actors and theatre groups. Check out the array of incredible talent grown from local soil or, if you’re a performer yourself, sign up for Sima Performing Arts’ lyrical contemporary dance workshop.
