One of Morocco's top actresses, who fled to France following backlash over a prostitute role she played in the 2015 film "Much Loved," has now returned to the "screen" with her own YouTube channel.
Loubna Abidar said in her first weekly YouTube video: "Hello to those who love me, hello to those who support me. Hello also to those who don't like me, to those who insult me and who listen to me anyway."
She says that her channel will be a portal to interact with and discuss controversial issues with people in her homeland, whom she urged to get in touch with her to discuss "subjects that trouble you and subjects that anger you."
"Much Loved," a film by renowned Franco-Moroccan director Nabil Ayouch, was shown at the 2015 Cannes film festival. It was, however, banned in Morocco where "authorities deemed it damaged the country's image as well as being 'an affront to moral values and Moroccan women,'" according to AFP.
Loubna fled to France after being attacked on a street of the coastal city of Casablanca in November 2015.
She has since published an autobiography under the title "La Dangereuse" (The Dangerous Woman).
